I Can Charm Anyone!

Hi there everypawdy!

For some reason, this post didn't go live when we scheduled it to! So pretend that we're a month back... before the holidays - and enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Mom and I live near the city of Portland, Oregon. There are lots of trees and right now, lots of cold and rain. Portland is known for being a little...Quirky. That's ok though, we like quirky because it makes the world fun and interesting. It would be really boring if we were all the same and all "normal."

This time of year, there are lots of traditions floating around. Santa Claus or in my case, Basil Claws! I love to get dressed up in my holiday harness and get extra smiles. For the past few years, I got to hang out with Santa Claus. He's a nice guy but awful busy right now.

Mr. Claus offered me a ride in his sleigh... I said that I was busy delivering to my peeps at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

But anyway, this year, we decided on something a little different... A little... Portland. You've heard of the Grinch that stole Christmas? Well, years ago in Germany, there was a legend of a creature called Krampus. Krampus was a huge scary beast with horns and while Santa Claus would bring toys to the good children, Krampus would kidnap the naughty kids, stuff them in his sack and take them to his lair! I figure that Krampus and I needed to talk, he needed some Kitty Therapy (who doesn't?).

After we had some time together, Krampus is ok!

So, whether you feel like Basil Claws or Krampus this year, in the end, we all need a little love so make sure that you give some away because it doesn't cost anything and it pays back much more.

Happy holidays to all my peeps!

The end...

Stuff Happens...

Hi there everypawdy!

There is a human saying and I'll use the nice version... "Stuff happens." Well, stuff happened to me the other day. I hadn't been out of the house in a few days so I did my very best to tell Mom that I wanted to put on my holiday harness and go with her for a few errands. It's something that I've done countless times and I get to meet new people and see new things. As a Therapy Cat, I constantly have to stay ready and this sort of thing helps keep me on my paws!

Later, Mom stopped in our favorite local drive-thru coffee place and ordered a coffee - they love me there too. I got to sit on her lap while the girl outside took her order and gave me pets - we said "hello!" to each other. Then, Mom turned to put me back on my blankets (the passenger seat) and something happened... something went very wrong. I ended up having the world's worst panic attack (Mom thinks I had some sort of seizure or short circuit in my brain). While the humans all aren't certain what happened to cause me to freak out so badly, I got REALLY, REALLY frightened. Mom had a terrible time trying to catch me and get me into the house.

Ever since then, I haven't been quite myself. Mom says it's like I got bit by a tiny dragon and I keep looking for it everywhere. I haven't wanted to jump up next to her on the couch, the bed, and I've been scared of things like her socks and umbrella. I spent the day with my peeps at Cat Care Professionals this last Monday and they couldn't find anything wrong with me.

Since then, I've started to get a little better each day. I slept on Mom a little bit last night and the night before and she says I don't look so paranoid anymore... whatever that is. Hopefully, in another few weeks, Mom is going to start some basic training with me again but not until she knows that I'm ready.

We've cancelled our visits for the rest of the month, which makes us really sad, so that Mom can focus on loving me a lot to remind me that I'm always safe with her and I can focus on getting better. I think that I will get better but it may take a little time. Until then, I may look for that dragon occasionally, in case he decides to return. I'm also going to keep practicing my cuteness, purrs, and biscuits when I think it's safe.

Thank you for staying with me and I will try be back to all my peeps soon! Remember to be kind, be honest, be loving... And if you can be anything, Be Like Basil!
